A Bainbridge man had part of a finger cut off in one of two assaults reported to Public Safety early Saturday morning, according to incident reports.

The most serious of the assaults happened at about 2:15 a.m. Saturday on the 600 block of East Green Street, a couple of blocks west of its intersection with South Scott Street. The 27-year-old male victim told officers he was walking home when he was attacked. Due to his serious injuries following the attack, he walked further down Green Street seeking help, at which point a homeowner called 911.

BPS Officer William Cox stated he noticed the victim was badly injured and had about eight to 10 large lacerations on his face and scalp. Cox also noticed that the victim’s left index finger was almost completely amputated at the first knuckle. The victim was rushed to Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Some of the victim’s belongings, as well as a large amount of blood was found around a vacant house, where BPS Investigator Ryan Deen said he believes the assault took place. In his report, Officer Cox said emergency room staff told him the victim’s finger bone was shattered rather than cut, indicating the injury was probably not caused by an edged weapon.

Deen said Tuesday the victim’s injuries were serious enough that he had stayed at the hospital for a couple of days.

The attack is still under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the attack or know more information is asked to call Investigator Deen at 248-2044.

Woman arrested after stabbing

At about 1:45 a.m. Saturday, a short time before the Green Street assault was reported, Deen and other BPS officers had been on the 1200 block of East Water Street after a stabbing was reported.

A 43-year-old male resident had been stabbed by one of several friends who had been at his house drinking. A witness stated the victim was stabbed by Shekethe Diane Session, 31, 600 Dennard St., Bainbridge.

The witnesss told BPS Officer Terry Pait that the victim and Session argued when she wanted to take home some beer that she had not paid for. According to the witness, the victim tried to stop Session from leaving, at which point she got upset, pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in his stomach.

Shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday afternoon, a Donalsonville, Ga., man reported being mugged on North Scott Street, near its intersection with Calhoun Street. The man stated he and his girlfriend had parked outside a business. The victim stated he had exited the car when he was struck in the forehead with an object, knocking him to the ground.
