Basketball teams return to action Friday

Coach Rickey McCullough’s 2-1 Bainbridge High School Bearcats and coach Kelvin Cochran’s 1-2 Bainbridge High School Lady Cats will return to basketball action Friday taking on the Colquitt County High School Packers and Lady Packers in Moultrie, Ga.

The girls game will begin at 6 p.m. and the boys game will follow at 7:30 p.m.

The Packers are led by a pair of returning double figure scorers, 6-foot-4 forward Bo Grady Spence and 5-foot-11 forward Devontay Ward. Guard Levon Grant also returns.

The  Lady Packers are led by sophomore center Makeba Ponder, who was named All-Region 1-AAAAA as a freshman last season. She scored 29 points in Colquitt County’s 54-45 victory over Randolph-Clay in the DoCo Thanksgiving Shootout in Albany.

The Bearcats and Lady Cats will return home Saturday to host the Thomasville High School Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs.
