Alberta Oliver Smith, 92, of Albany, Ga., formerly of Americus, Ga., died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at Palmyra Nursing Home in Albany.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2, at the Hopeful Baptist Church, with interment in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will include Billy Smith, Ken Grimes, Tony Smith Jr., Devin Montgomery, Bill Veara and Jeff Ingram. Honorary pallbearers are Rusty Grimes, Scott Daniel and Derrick Smith.
Born March 8, 1919, in Bainbridge, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Clifford D. and Lucy Brock Oliver. She died Nov. 29, 2011, in Albany. She was married to the late William Young Smith Sr., was a homemaker and a seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her grandsons, David Smith and Rod Grimes.
Survivors include a daughter, Lucy Etheridge of Ellaville, Ga.; three sons, William Smith and wife, Cindy, of Cobb, Ga., Jerry Smith and wife, Terry, of Panama City, Fla., and Tony Smith and wife, Sharon, of Baconton, Ga.; two sisters, Dayle Craft of Albany and Joyce Duval of California; two brothers, Layne Oliver and Wayne Oliver, both of Camilla, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the church from 1 – 2 p.m., Friday, one hour before services.
Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home of Camilla is in charge of arrangements.
