Memorial services for Eliot Estel Battle III, 67, of Sandy Springs, Ga., and Tifton, Ga., will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals, with Father Lonnie Lacy officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date in Attapulgus.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, immediately following the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The family will be at the home of Spud and Sherry Bowen at 811 Murray Ave. in Tifton.

Mr. Battle was born on Aug. 28, 1944, in Quincy, Fla., the son of Eliot and Bernice Battle, both deceased. He died at his home in Tifton on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, following an extended illness. He was a graduate of Tift County High School, the University of Georgia and the University of Georgia School of Pharmacy. He was retired as director of the pharmacy at St. Joseph’s Catholic Hospital in Atlanta.

He was preceded in death by a niece, Pam B. Bragdon.

Survivors include his sister and brother-in-law, Jill Battle Bowen and Jimmie Bowen Sr. of Tifton; two nephews, Spud Bowen and his wife Sherry, Chip Bowen and his wife Fern, all of Tifton; one niece, Stacie Branch and her husband Danny of Jesup, Ga.; six great-nephews; two great-nieces; and his Tifton caregiver, Gilbert Morgan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to the Tift Regional Medical Center Foundation, P.O. Box 747, Tifton, GA 31793.
