Middle-school teams split games

The Bainbridge Middle School seventh- and eighth-grade Bearcats boys basketball teams split two games Wednesday and Thursday.

Coach Patrick Clark’s seventh-grade Bearcats lost a close 37-33 decision to the Washington Middle School seventh-grade Tigers on Wednesday in Cairo.

On Thursday, coach Heith Maxwell’s eighth-grade Bearcats defeated the Thomas County Central Middle School eighth-grade Yellow Jackets, 58-30, on the road.

The seventh-grade Bearcats were led by Tyler Jackson’s 14 points. Keyshawn Madge added nine.

Rounding out the Bearcats’ scoring column were Dalvin Spivie with eight and Eddie Cooper  with six.

Leading the way for the eighth-grade Bearcats in their victory over Central was forward Tyree Crump with a game-high 22 points. Forward Alan Close was also in double figures, with 13.

Rounding out the Bearcats’ scoring chart were point guard Jeanntavious Jeanty with nine, guard Myles Thomas with seven, point guard Kamron Pugh with three and forward Devin Rivers and center Russell Wheeler with two apiece.
