Tornado watch in effect for Decatur County

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a tornado watch for Decatur County, which will be in effect until 9 p.m. Wednesday.
According to the NWS, a cold front will approach the region today and tonight. Possibly expected are scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms with breezy and gusty winds. Some of these storms will be strong to severe, with damaging winds as the main threat.
Also, the NWS reports that the focus of these storms will likely be in the area of southeast Alabama and southwest Georgia. The storms will shift to eastern Georgia late Wednesday.
A tornado watch is declared when atmospheric conditions are suitable to where a tornado could possibly develop.
