Armed robbery reported Wednesday

Decatur County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating an armed robbery reported Wednesday in a residential subdivision.

At about 12:40 p.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to a 911 call from a resident of River Chase subdivision, located off Georgia 97 South.

According to Undersheriff Wendell Cofer, the victim stated they were approached about a vehicle for sale that was parked outside the home. While the victim was talking with the suspects, described as a Hispanic male and a black male, the victim was robbed at gunpoint, Cofer said.

The suspects left in a maroon-colored SUV, possibly a Mercury Mountaineer, Cofer said. Deputies have are looking out for similar vehicles and Crime Scene Investigator Capt. Gale Bowyer processed the crime scene, Cofer said.

Anyone with more information about the robbery is asked to call Investigator Redell Walton at (229) 400-8014. The Sheriff’s Office is offering a reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the robbery suspects, Cofer said.
