Rev. Clarence B. Jackson

The funeral service for Rev. Clarence B. Jackson, 82, of Chapin, S.C., will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at Brinson Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Shepard officiating. Interment will follow at Brinson Cemetery in Brinson.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Brinson Baptist Church, prior to the funeral service.
Rev. Jackson was born Oct. 7, 1929 in Springfield, S.C, the son of Willie Bethea Jackson and Hester Adele Brown Jackson. He died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at Chapin, S.C. He graduated from Brinson High School in 1946 and from Bainbridge High School in 1947. He attended Georgia Tech and graduated from Mercer University. He received his Master of Religious Education degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and his Master of Divinity degree from Southeast Baptist Theological Seminary. Rev. Jackson was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean War. During his years as a minister, he pastored churches in Pontiac, Mich., Wake Forest, N.C., Danville, Va., and Richmond,Va. He served as a missionary in Trinidad from 1983 to 1995 and was active in Civitan and a Ruitan organizations and was a member of Dutch Fork Baptist Church in Ballentine, S.C.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Jackson.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Pitman Jackson, of Chapin; his sons, Glenn Jackson, of Austin, Texas, David Jackson and his wife, Rosemarie, of Newton, Mass., and Steven Jackson and his wife, Randa, of Irmo, S.C.; his sisters, Jessie Cox, of Warner Robins, Ga., and Dot Rainey, of Albany, Ga.; his sister-in-law, Glaphrey Jackson, of Brinson; his grandchildren, Robert Welles, Sarah Jackson, David Jackson Jr., Jennifer Jackson and Christopher Jackson; and his great-grandchildren, Robert Welles and Audrina Villegas.
