The funeral service for Ron Burns, 71, of Bainbridge, will be held Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 11 a.m. at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Milton Harrison officiating. Interment will be at West Bainbridge Cemetery.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Mr. Burns was born Feb. 21, 1940 in Wellston, Ohio, and died Friday, Oct. 28, 2011 at his residence. He was a graduate of Wellston High School and a veteran in the United States Army. Mr. Burns was a corrections officer in Decatur County, retiring after many years of service and also worked for Revco, CVS Pharmacy, Southwest Georgia Oil Company, and Stones, Inc. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and Gideons of Bainbridge.

He was preceded in death by his father, Nathaniel Eugene Burns; and his mother Edith Margaret Reed Baker Burns Campbell.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Darla Burns of Bainbridge; his daughters, Debbie Burns of London, Ohio, and Brenda Davis and her husband, Brandon, of Bainbridge; his son, Robert Burns and his wife, Brenda, of Meigs, Ga.; his sister, Carolyn Kinkead of Bullhead City, Ariz.; his 13 grandchildren; and his 4 great-grandchildren.

Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
