About one in eight U.S. women (just under 12 percent) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. In 2011, an estimated 230,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer were expected to be diagnosed in women in the U.S., along with 57,650 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer.
Memorial Hospital and Manor is offering an opportunity to learn more about breast cancer prevention, detection and treatment at a free breast cancer information seminar on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 6 p.m. in the Kirbo Women’s Center.
Guests will hear from Bainbridge gynecologist Don Robinson, M.D., who will share information about breast cancer prevention and detection. Joining Dr. Robinson will be Steven Johnson, M.D., a radiation oncologist with the Singletary Oncology Center in Thomasville, Ga., who will discuss treatment options for breast cancer. Dr. Robinson and Dr. Johnson will also answer questions from the audience about breast cancer.
Refreshments will be furnished by the nursing staff of the Kirbo Women’s Center. Reservations are suggested and can be made by calling (229) 243-6187.
