The funeral service for Susie Monteen Lynn Massey, 96, of Bainbridge, will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at Christian Faith Church with Dr. Lynn Massey and Rev. Ron Kirkland officiating. Mrs. Massey died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at Memorial Hospital.
Interment will follow the service at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Steve Green, Keith Massey, Marty Massey, Derek Massey, Todd Massey, and Rick Draughn serving as active pallbearers. The Men of Christian Faith Church, Dr. Sydney Cochran, Lee Yeager, Tony Hamm, Lester Massey, Brad Kelley, Chris Kelley, Stewart Kelly, Herbert Green, Scott Connell, Shannon Hutto and John Sonner will serve as honorary pallbearers.
“Granny Massey” was born Sept. 16, 1915, in Colquitt, Ga., the daughter of William Andrew Lynn and Irene Cleveland Lynn. She was a retired seamstress for Jack Winter, Inc., and served as a clerk at Port City Church of God for seven years, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of their choir. She was a member of Christian Faith Church.
Mrs. Massey was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Lee Massey; her son, Ralph Massey; her brothers, Bill Lynn, L. E. Lynn, Felton Lynn, Ellis Lynn, and Toby Lynn; her sisters, Lois Sheffield and Elsie Mae Merkison; her great-grandson, Eric Ralph Massey; and her great-granddaughter, Mandy Green Lyon.
Survivors include her sons, Dr. Lynn Massey and his wife, Peggy, of Jacksonville, Fla., Lee Massey and his wife, June, of Iron City, Ga., and Kenneth Massey and his wife, Gloria, of Donalsonville, Ga.; her daughter, Blanche Massey Green of Camilla, Ga.; her sisters, Annette Smithson of Bainbridge, and Yvonne Yates of Lynn Haven, Fla.; her nine grandchildren; her 15 great-grandchildren; and her five great-great-grandchildren.
