A memorial service for Daphine Cowart Spence, 66, of Colquitt, Ga., will be held Saturday, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, Ga., with the Rev. Robert Johns, the Rev. Herman Enfinger and the Rev. Corey Thomas officiating.

Interment will be at Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Colquitt, Ga. The family will receive friends at Evans Skipper Funeral Home on Friday, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Mrs Spence was born on Jan. 28, 1945, to the late Leon E. and Lucile Danford Cowart. She died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Ala. She was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church and worked a short time at Seminole Manor Nursing Home and at Farmers Fertilizer and Milling Co.

Most of her time was spent at home with children and grandchildren. She was a loving and caring person to all.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bud and Rena Spence; sisters, Irene C. Symonds and Christine C. Smith; and brother, Eugene “Buddy” Cowart.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas E. “Buddy” Spence Sr.;  sons, Thomas E. “Toby” Spence Jr. and his wife Renee, Casey Gabriel “Gabe”and his wife Lachelle; one daughter, Tommie Sue S. Standifer and her husband Frank Jr., all of Colquitt;  sister, Wylene Moseley and her husband of Jakin, Ga.; grandchildren, Shelby Standifer, Kelsie Standifer, Tristan Spence, Tucker Spence, Dalton Spence and Marshal Spence, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
