The Northside-Columbus High School Patriots will bring a veteran football team to Centennial Field on Friday to take on the Bainbridge High School Bearcats in a battle of two 4-1 teams that are also both 1-1 in Region 1-AAAA.

“Northside has 17 experienced seniors back this season,” Bearcats coach Ed Pilcher said Monday. “They operate out of a multiple offensive set and run and throw very effectively.

“Jaden Lacy their big senior quarterback has a strong arm and throws well.”

Pilcher is equally impressed with the Patriots’ running game.

“Northside-Columbus has a couple of big hard running backs,” Pilcher said, referring to  senior Walker Seldon and junior Brady Pitts.

Defensively, the Patriots feature strong leadership on the line and at linebacker.

Top defensive linemen are senior Tevin Coates, senior Philip Mitchell and senior Crockett Womack.

Heading the Patriots’ veteran linebacking group are senior Johnny Garner, senior Donte Donahue and senior Grayson Davis.

“We will have to be ready Friday night, because Northside-Columbus is solid on both sides of the ball,” Pilcher said. “It should be exciting and we are looking forward to the challenge.”
