An employee of the Pizza Hut on Shotwell Street reported being robbed by a man with a gun, just after the restaurant closed early Saturday morning, officials with Bainbridge Public Safety said.
The employee had just closed the restaurant at about 1 a.m. Saturday and had stepped outside, when the robber threatened him with a firearm and demanded money, BPS Investigator Mark Esquivel said. After the money was handed over, the robber then fled on foot.
BPS officers and other law enforcement officers converged around the crime scene to look for a suspect. Two men were taken into custody for questioning a short time after the robbery was reported but were later released, Esquivel said Tuesday.
“I can’t say too much at this time other than that, after looking into things more closely, I determined that they were not the ones who did it,” Esquivel said.
Investigation is continuing; anyone who has more information is asked to call Esquivel at (229) 248-2044.
