Norris leads jayvee Bearcats over Worth

Quarterback Preston Norris threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more  Thursday at Centennial Field to lead the Bainbridge High School junior varsity Bearcats to a 28-20 victory over the Worth County High School junior varsity Rams, from Sylvester.

The win evened the junior varsity Bearcats’ record at 1-1. They lost 22-12 to  Thomas County Central on Thursday, Sept. 1, at Centennial Field.

The Bearcats went ahead 6-0 when Norris dropped back to pass and found wide receiver Victor Bodison running open down the left side.

He hit him in stride for a touchdown putting the Bearcats ahead 6-0 with 6:35 left in the first quarter. The scoring play covered 60 yards.

Isiah Brown tried to run in for the two-point conversion but was stopped short.

The Rams took an 8-6 lead with 8:57 left in the second quarter clock when they completed a 25-yard touchdown pass and ran for the two-point conversion.

The Bearcats went back ahead 12-8 when Norris ran up the middle and broke loose for 80 yards and a touchdown with 5:59 left in the second quarter. He tried to throw for the two-point conversion but the pass was incomplete.

Norris ran off the left side for 5 yards and a touchdown with 4:57 left in the second quarter, and threw to Tadarious Green for the two-point conversion to give the Bearcats a 20-8 lead.

The Bearcats’ final touchdown, which put them up 26-8, came on a 20-yard pass from Norris to Bodison with 2:08 left in the second quarter. Tremain McCray ran in for the two-point conversion to send the Bearcats to halftime with a 28-8 lead.

Worth County came back in the second half, but the Bearcats’ defense was able to hang on for the eight-point victory.
