Lady Cats split last week’s games

Coach Eugene Singletary’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats softball teams split two games this week.
On Wednesday, the Lady Cats took a 7-3 lead after one inning and went on to defeat the Early County High School Lady Bobcats, 12-4, at home.
On Thursday they lost 10-4 to the Crisp County High School Lady Cougars in Cordele. Details of the Crisp County game were not available at press time.
Winning pitcher Caitlin Cato singled to open the Lady Cats first inning, Wednesday against Early County. She moved up to second when third baseman Tiffany Hand was safe on a fielder’s choice and came in ahead of Hand when shortstop Briana Wade cleared the bases with a triple.
Catcher Kristen Bennett banged out a single to drive in Wade with the inning’s third run. Bennett moved up on an error and second baseman Avis Jackson walked.
Center fielder Diamond Bouie and left fielder Anna Barber followed with singles driving in Bennett and Jackson. Barber moved up on a fielder’s choice and scored on a fielder’s choice.
A fielder’s choice, a single and a double produced the Lady Bobcats’ three first inning runs.
