Coach Tom Fallaw’s Cairo Syrupmakers, Bainbridge’s opponent Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Cairo’s West Thomas Stadium, have some key players returning from their 2010 team that went 12-1, won the Region 1-AAA championship and reached the Class AAA quarterfinals.

They have six starters back from a defense that shut out six opponents last season. Junior Anthony Mosely, senior Cedric Stewart and senior Randy Wooten are back on the defensive line.

Also returning on defense is senior linebacker Terrell Cason, who could also see duty at tailback. Junior linebacker Paul Davis and senior safety  Tim Gurley are also back.

The Syrupmakers’ multipe I formation offense is run by senior quarterback Steven Bench, who started at quarterback for Bainbridge last season before transfering.

The Syrupmakers have only two returning starters on the offensive line. They are senior Devontae Johnson and junior Anthony Mosely.

Anchoring the running game is returning senior fullback Prince Davis. Two other fullbacks, senior Cedric Stewart and sophomore Michael Washington, should see duty as well.

The Syrupmakers’ top two returning pass receivers are juniors Zaye Donaldson and Deonte Dismuke.
