A funeral service for Lee Tillman, 84, of Bainbridge, will be held Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 2 p.m. at Morningside Baptist Church with Dr. Billy Southerland and the Rev. Warren Fox officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Coolidge, Ga., on Tuesday at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Stanley Norman officiating. Pat Tillman, Mike Tillman, Mark Tillman, Bill Tillman, Tommy Tillman and Hardy Tillman will serve as active pallbearers and the Joy Light Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Ivey Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Morningside Baptist Church, P.O. Box 7009, Bainbridge, Georgia 39818 or Pine Grove Baptist Church, 4103 Bay Rocky Ford Road, Moultrie, GA 31768.
Born Aug. 14, 1927 in Colquitt County, Mr. Tillman passed away Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. Tillman was the son of Marion Joseph Tillman Sr. and Rosa Lee Harvey Tillman. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Joy Light Sunday School Class. Mr. Tillman retired from the meat packing industry after 35 years and he was co-owner of Tillman Brothers Meat Packing Company.
Mr. Tillman was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Ophelia Richardson Tillman; his brothers, Buddy Tillman, Theron Tillman, Marion Tillman, Jr., and Marvin Tillman; and his sister, Bernice Southerland.
Survivors include his son, Bud Tillman of Bainbridge; his daughters, Diane Bamburg and her husband, Roy, of Quitman, Ga., Dean Ivanoff and her husband, George, of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Rosa Collins and her husband, Marc, of Camilla, Ga.; his brother, Max Tillman of Donalsonville, Ga.; his sister, Dora Bates of Coolidge; his grandchildren, Butch Adams, Steve Adams, Matthew Bamburg, Rodean S. Rhinehart, Spring Rhinehart, Leigh Stalvey, and Tres Collins; his great-grandchildren, Lee Adams, Ryan Adams, Aden Rhinehart, Mason Rhinehart, Ivy Grace Rhinehart, Griffin Stalvey, Tillman Stalvey and Collier Collins; and his special friend, Mary Coleman.
