The Bainbridge High School Bearcats continued to work in camp last week, with three Wednesday workouts on their campus practice field.
Following a morning session in full pads, they worked in shorts and helmets in the afternoon and in full pads again at night.
“Practices have really gone well this week,” Bainbridge head coach Ed Pilcher said early Wednesday afternoon. “The quarterbacks are throwing well, the backs are running hard, the offensive linemen are blocking well and the defense is really getting after it.”
The Bearcats will open the 2011 season Friday, Aug. 26, against the Early County Bobcats at Centennial Field. Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m.
A week earlier, Fri., Aug. 19, Bainbridge will host the Americus-Sumter County Panthers in a 7:30 p.m. preseason scrimmage at Centennial Field. Admission will be $5.
The Bearcats’ offense will be led this season by senior quarterback Quincy Fortson and sophomore quarterback Preston Norris. Top running backs include senior Aaron Hall and junior Terry Lewis.
Blocking up front for the backs are junior center Cole Granato, junior tackle Madison Malone, junior guards Tim Shaw and Andrzej Jeglinski and junior tackle Jason Long.
Sophomore Daniel Provence will be the team’s place-kicker and either Provence or sophomore Paul Soden will handle punting. Jeglinski will be the long snapper.
Below are pictures from Wednesday afternoon’s practice, featuring work on special teams. The kicker shown is sophomore Daniel Provence, with freshman Paul Soden serving as placeholder and Andrezj Jeglinski snapping the ball.
