A funeral service for Mrs. Annie Lee Battle, 78, of Brinson, was held Mon., Aug. 1, at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Brinson with the Rev. Cleveland Sanders officiating. Interment followed in Jonas Lobe Cemetery with Terrence Walker, Lee Walker, Krenski Williams, Brandon Powell, Gary Taylor, Anthony Thompson, Brian Taylor, Fredrick Thompson and Randy Williams serving as active pallbearers.

Born June 10, 1933, Mrs. Battle passed away July 25, 2011, at her residence in Brinson.

Mrs. Battle was the daughter of the late Gene and Nangie Carr. She attended Miller County High School in Colquitt, Ga. She was employed with Elberta Crate Factory in Bainbridge for 25 years before retiring and enjoying life as a homemaker and caretaker for her great-grandchildren. She joined Springhill Baptist Church in Iron City at an early age and later moved her membership to Pleasant Hill M.B. Church in the El Dorendo community.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Otis Williams; a son, Jessie “Bubba” Williams; and five of her siblings: Joseph, Josephine, James and Henry L. Carr, and Jeantte Goodman.

Survivors include her husband of 28 years, John Battle; a son, Randy Williams and his wife Doretha; and five daughters, Joanne Clemons and her husband Terry, Elaine Taylor and her husband Gary, Debra Marshall and her husband Donnie, Angela Williams and Diann Williams; her siblings, David Perkins, Jonathan Perkins, Alexander Carr, Betty Jordan, Collie Allen, Lamar Carr, Rufus Carr, Jethro Carr, Virginia Buggs and James Gene Carr; two stepdaughters; a stepson; a brother-in-law; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Bruton Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
