Justin Schuver has been named managing editor of The Post-Searchlight, Bainbridge Living magazine, Rifle & Rod magazine, and all associated websites. Publisher Jeff Findley introduced Schuver to The Post-Searchlight staff Monday morning.
Schuver, 28, comes to Bainbridge from Thomson, Ga., where he was editor of The McDuffie Progress. Previously, Schuver served as copy editor of The Andalusia (Ala.) Star-News and the sports editor of The Hartselle (Ala.) Enquirer. Schuver is a graduate of The University of Notre Dame, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.
“I am very excited to join the staff of The Post-Searchlight and to become a part of the Bainbridge community,” Schuver said. “My father is in the newspaper business. As a kid, I spent a lot of time around him in press rooms and on story assignments. I guess you could say I have ‘ink in my veins’ and I’m anxious to get started here.”
“I have admired Justin’s work from a distance for several years,” Findley said. “I am very pleased that Justin has joined our staff as we strive to provide Bainbridge and Decatur County with an outstanding news product.”
Schuver has won numerous Georgia Press Association and Alabama Press Association awards, in both writing and photography.
“I love the journalism business,” Schuver said. “Everyone has a story to tell, and I look forward to telling those stories, and helping the people of Decatur County get the information they want to know, and need to know.”
Schuver is Roman Catholic and plans to join St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He has already moved to Bainbridge and enjoys bowling, singing and playing the acoustic guitar.
