Pearl Gilbourn Alday, 89, of Sugar Hill, Ga., formerly of Bainbridge and Donalsonville, died Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Embracing Hospice in Cumming, Ga.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow at Spring Creek Baptist Church Cemetery near Donalsonville with Geoff Alday, John Alday, Matt Alday, Brian Benefield, David Luke and James Rice serving as active pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, at Ivey Funeral Home.

Mrs. Alday was born May, 6, 1922, in Faceville, the daughter of David Alexander Gilbourn and Annie Mae Smith Gilbourn. She was a graduate of Faceville High School, a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Jonesboro, Ga., and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Britten Elliott Alday.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Benefield and her husband, John, of Dahlonega, Ga.; her sons, Charles Alday and his wife, Charlotte, of Kennesaw, Ga., and David Alday and his wife, Terry, of Macon, Ga.; her brothers, Clifford Gilbourn and his wife, Anneita, of Marianna, Fla., and Jeff Gilbourn and his wife, Quintilla, of Bainbridge; her brother-in-law, Roscoe Alday and his wife, Allean, of Donalsonville; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
