The funeral service for Wilford “Sam” Pritchett, 72, of Bainbridge was held on Thursday, June 23, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Henry Covington officiating.
Interment followed at Roselawn Memory Gardens with military honors. Active pallbearers were Donald Rackley Jr., Scott Spencer Jr., Paul Brittain, Stacy Strickland, Connor Strickland and Kevin Chapman.
Mr. Pritchett was born March 24, 1939, in Jeff Davis County, Ga., the son of Beeler Wilford Pritchett and Rena Ricketson Pritchett. He died Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at his residence. He was a graduate of Jeff Davis High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Korea. Mr. Pritchett was employed by Amoco Fabrics & Fibers for many years and later worked with Southwind Plantation as the outside business manager. He was a regular donor for the American Red Cross Blood program, with more than 13 gallons donated. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include his wife, Laura Pritchett of Bainbridge; his three daughters, Sandy Brittain of Morganton, N.C., Vickie Pritchett of Dalton, Ga., and Mia Broxton of Bainbridge; his brothers, Bill Pritchett of Alma, Ga., and LaDon Pritchett of Jacksonville, Fla.; his sisters, Geneva Hutchinson of Callahan, Fla., Jaunell McEachin of Claxton, Ga., Joann Sharpe of Hazlehurst, Ga., and Linda Nix of Baxley, Ga.; his eight grandchildren and his nine great-grandchildren.
Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
