The funeral service for Danny Lester Priest, 59, of Bainbridge, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marty Brock officiating.

Interment will be held at Gainey Cemetery.

Mr. Priest was born Sept. 25, 1951, in Bainbridge, the son of L.H. (Hansel) Priest and Alva Nix Priest. He died Thursday, June 23, 2011, at his residence.

He attended Pine Hill School and Bainbridge High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was a sales representative and regional manager for Lance Inc., a candy distributor for Belcher’s Candie, and was a truck driver for Shelton Transportation, Rentz Transportation and Swift Transportation. He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Priest was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Andrews.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Nancy “Terrie” Gainey Priest of Bainbridge; his sons, Danny Lee Priest and his wife, Lindsay, of Tacoma, Wash., and Christopher Priest of Bainbridge; his brother, Charles Priest of Bainbridge; his sister, Mary Collins of Bainbridge; his sisters-in-law, Angela Chason and her husband, Pete, of Monroe, Ga., Linda Josey and her husband, Ray, of Iron City, Diane Demattei of Anderson, S.C., and Lorraine Pless of Gainesville, Ga.; and numerous nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Southwest Georgia Hospice, 1223 E.
