The funeral service for Jewell Murkerson Johnson, 82, of Climax, Ga., will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Donna Bevels and James Scarborough officiating.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at White Plains Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery near Blakely.

Mrs. Johnson was born June 3, 1928, near Damascus, the daughter of Willie Wooten Musgrove and Ila Jewell Lewis Musgrove. She died June 2, 2011, at her residence. She was a seamstress for mills in Blakely, Bainbridge, Donalsonville and Ashford, Ala., and was a quality control inspector for Amoco Fabrics Inc. She was of the Assembly of God faith.

She was preceded in death by a husband, Lawson Donelle Murkerson, and a son, Winston Steve Murkerson.

Survivors include her sons, Don Murkerson and Ted Murkerson, both of Donalsonville; daughters, Elizabeth Murkerson Harris and Lillian E. Smith, both of Climax; 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
