Funeral services for Robert Phillips, 79, of Iron City, Ga., were held on Thursday, June 2, at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with the Rev. James Scarborough officiating.
Interment followed in Corinth Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Chris Buckhalter, Jeff Sherrer, Heath Sherrer, Paul Phillips, Shannon Phillips, Glen McMillian and James Phillips acting as pallbearers.
Mr. Phillips was born on Oct. 24, 1931, and died Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at his residence. He worked as a welder at Lewis M. Carter Manufacturing Company in Donalsonville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Braswell Martin Phillips; his wife, Marie Daniels Phillips; three brothers, Calvin Phillips, Roy Gene Phillips and James Phillips; and one sister, Lucille Phillips.
He is survived by two sons, Robert and Raymond Sherrer both of Iron City; two daughters, Judy Coleman of Jacksonville, Ark., and Theresa Buckhalter of Donalsonville; four brothers, Larry Phillips, Thomas Phillips and J.D. Phillips, all of Donalsonville, and Albert Phillips of Dothan, Ala.; three sisters, Louise Chambliss of Colquitt, Eloise McCusker of Atlanta and Lorine Phillips of Eldorado, Ga.; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
