The funeral service for Alfredo Bocanegra, 72, of Bainbridge, will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 2, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Arnaldo Gonzalez officiating.

Interment will follow at Franklin Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, at Ivey Funeral Home.

Mr. Bocanegra was born July 11, 1938, the son of Alfredo Bocanegra and Amelia Valdez Bocanegra. He died May 31, 2011, at Memorial Hospital. He worked for Clinton Nursery for more than 16 years and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Sara Aviña Bocanegra of Bainbridge; his sons, José Alfredo Bocanegra and his wife, Norma Padrón, of Attapulgus, and Jesús Bocanegra and his wife, Yashira, of Bainbridge; his brothers, Martín Bocanegra, Feliciano Bocanegra, Zacarías Bocanegra, David Bocanegra, Monserrato Bocanegra and Eulogio Bocanegra; his sisters, Guadalupe Bocanegra, Juana Bocanegra, Marta Bocanegra, Angelica Bocanegra and Librada Bocanegra; and his four grandchildren, Julie Bocanegra, Juán Padrón, José Alfredo Bocanegra and Santiago Bocanegra.

Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
