Although the Volt electric car produced by Chevrolet won’t be available on showroom floors until September, Bainbridge residents had an opportunity to preview the car at Action GM for one day on May 13. It also made an appearance at Relay for Life that day.

The car has been making the rounds of 15 dealerships in South Georgia to give the public a chance to get acquainted with the new automobile.

Chevrolet claims the Volt, the 2011 Motor Trend magazine Car of the Year, will deliver 40 miles on the battery alone.

The hybrid car will retail as low as $32,780, according to the Chevrolet website.
