A funeral service for Mr. Bobby H. Hatcher, 78, was held Tuesday, May 31, at Morningside Baptist Church with the Revs. Carl Harrell, Warren Fox and Jimmy Hatcher officiating.

Interment followed at West Bainbridge Cemetery with Lee Thomas, Charles Rathel, Ashley Gardner, Michael Betts, Jamie Ard and Jay Wells serving as active pallbearers, and the Men’s Sunday School Class serving as honorary pallbearers.

Born March 31, 1933, in Bainbridge, Mr. Hatcher died on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Archbold Medical Center.

Mr. Hatcher was the son of Fred B. Hatcher and Simmie Lee Harrell Hatcher. He was a graduate of West Bainbridge High School, Class of 1949, Georgia Military College, and attended the University of Georgia. He was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and Men’s Sunday School Class. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. Mr. Hatcher owned and operated Hatcher’s Foodland in West Bainbridge.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jolene J. Hatcher of Bainbridge; his son, Hal Hatcher and his wife, Johana, of Bainbridge; his daughters, Lee Hatcher of Tallahassee, Fla., and Jill Heard and her husband, Dale, of Bainbridge; his sister, Ann Ray and her husband, Larry, of Montgomery, Texas; his brother, Don Hatcher; his grandchildren, Dena Hooks, Wesley Hooks, John Hatcher and his wife, Kirsten, Philip Hatcher and his wife, April, Reid Heard, Tucker Heard, Grayson Heard and Natalie Melvin; and his four great-grandchildren.

Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
