Scholarships offered for the youth conference

Southwest Georgia Farm Credit, an agricultural cooperative, will pay the registration fee for up to three students in the Association’s 21-county territory to attend the Georgia Cooperative Youth Conference scheduled for July 11-15 at the Georgia FFA/FCCLA Center in Covington.

The Association’s territory borders the State of Florida from Seminole County to Thomas County, north to Marion County and west to Clay County.

The objectives of the conference are to provide cooperative education, heighten awareness of cooperatives in Georgia, explore the cooperative way of doing business and provide leadership development opportunities.

Presented by the Georgia Cooperative Council Inc., the week-long camp offers sessions on Congress and legislative issues; personality assessments; cooperative principles; and, recreation/educational opportunities, including swimming, canoeing, volleyball and a high rope obstacle course.

Students interested in applying should have the following qualifications:

• Must have leadership abilities;

• Must have completed freshman year of high school but not yet attending college;

• Has not previously attended the conference;

• Sponsored by a cooperative, which pays the registration fee.

Students would be responsible for monies associated with miscellaneous expenses for the week.

Completed applications must be mailed or delivered to Frances Edmunds, 305 Colquitt Hwy., Bainbridge, GA 39817 by May 31.
