Funeral services for Irene Stuart Roberts were held on Monday, May 16, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Donalsonville, Ga., with the Revs. Steve Hood, Eric Boomer, and Scott Messer officiating.

Interment followed in Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville.

Active pallbearers were Vic Stuart, Ken Stuart, Mark Stuart, Ralph Stuart, Ray Milliner and Dale Powell. Honorary pallbearers will be men of the First Church of the Nazarene

Mrs. Roberts was born in Early County, Ga., on Oct. 11, 1926. She died Friday, May 13, 2011, at the Donalsonville Hospital.

She was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Donalsonville, as long as her health allowed. She was instrumental in the planning of the Senior Adult Ministry at the church. Mrs. Roberts worked for more than 30 years with Donalsonville Hospital as a nursing assistant. She loved fishing, crocheting and embroidery. Most of all, Mrs. Roberts enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee and Leila Phillips Stuart; her husband, Idus Marcine Roberts; three brothers, Morris “Shine” Stuart, Marvin “Bud” Stuart and Ralph Stuart; and one sister, Ruby Way.

Survivors include a son, Bubba Roberts of Donalsonville; three daughters, Gayle Spence of Colquitt, Karen Bodrey and Dale Whittaker, both of Donalsonville; a brother, Roy Stuart of Arlington, Ga.; two sisters, Ruth Milliner of Damascus, Ga., and Dora Patterson of Damascus; two step-daughters, Betty Jones of Tallahassee, Fla., and Annette Burton of Chattahoochee, Fla.; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Evans-Skipper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
