The funeral service for Capt. H.A. “Larry” Laird, 88, of Attapulgus, Ga., will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Grubbs officiating.
Interment will follow at Attapulgus Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, prior to the funeral service.
Capt. Laird was born Sept. 15, 1922, in Malabar, Fla., the son of Maney Henry Laird and Julia Arnold Laird. He died Saturday, May 7, 2011, in Hollywood, Fla.
He was a graduate of Malabar High School and a pilot in the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. He was a retired captain with Pan Am Airlines, a member of the Christian Church of Atlanta, the V.F.W., and the Florida Live Steamers.
He was preceded in death by his son, Rhett Laird.
Survivors include his wife, Jean R. Laird of Attapulgus; his daughter, Cindy Laird of Attapulgus; his son, Marc Farner and his wife, Nancy, of Hollywood, Fla.; his grandchildren, Jo Colonna of Dania Beach, Fla., and Julia Woods of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and his great-grandchildren, Sophia Colonna and Christopher Colonna.
Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
