The contest, which is open through Sept. 30, celebrates rural lifestyles and country cooking.

Recipes will be accepted in five categories—appetizers; soups, salads and breads; main dishes, side dishes and desserts.

Entries will be accepted online at www.ikeepitrural.com or via mail.

Winners must live in a certain geographical territory; check the official rules before entering.

A grand prize winner will be selected and awarded $3,000. Four category winners will receive $750 each.

“The Recipe Contest is a great way to celebrate the wonderful year-round fruits and vegetables we are blessed to have here,” said Liz Nogowski, director of marketing at Southwest Georgia Farm Credit. “Of course, there’s nothing like enjoying a delicious chocolate dessert, too. We can’t wait to sample some of the terrific recipes our friends and neighbors from southwest Georgia will submit.”

Officers, directors and employees of Farm Credit are not eligible to participate. Read official rules, terms and conditions before entering.

Southwest Georgia Farm Credit, headquartered in Bainbridge, is an agricultural lending cooperative owned by its member-borrowers. It provides farm loans for land, equipment, livestock and production, as well as rural home mortgages.

It is part of the national Farm Credit System, a network of financial cooperatives established in 1916 to provide a dependable source of credit to farmers and rural America.
