Jacky and Diane Grubbs of Bainbridge, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa Grubbs, to John Mark Bryant of Whigham, Ga.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Vernon and Mildred Pickren of Colquitt, Ga., Mattie Cato of Bainbridge and the late Joe Grubbs Sr.

She graduated from Bainbridge High School in 2007 as valedictorian of her class, and will graduate summa cum laude from Thomas University on May 7 with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a specialty in English.

The groom to be is the son of Cindy and Scott Taliaferro of Whigham, and of Mark and Jennifer Bryant of Reno, Ga. His grandparents are Jimmy Womble and Faye Taliaferro, both of Whigham, of Jams and Sara Pass of Reno, and the late Ray and Hilda Bryant and the late Harden Taliaferro.

Mr. Bryant graduated from Cairo High School in 2006 and is employed as a lineman with Grady EMC.

The wedding is planned for Saturday, June 4, at 4 p.m. at Bainbridge First Church of the Nazarene. The reception will follow at The Kirbo Center. Friends and relatives are invited to attend the wedding and/or reception.
