Funeral services for Lisa Fay Cooper, 48, of Bronx, N.Y., were held Monday, April 25, in Jamaica, N.Y., with Pastor Nicardo Delahaye officiating.
Interment was in Bouie Cemetery in Attapulgus, Ga., where graveside services were held Thursday, April 28, with the Rev. Willie Smiley officiating.
Miss Cooper was born Oct. 31, 1962, in the Bronx, N.Y., and died April 19, 2011, in New York. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School, then attended Wilfred Academy for cosmetology. She was a dedicated foster parent for 15 years, taking in children with learning disabilities and special needs. She worked at Kennedy Airport for three years and at Long Beach Hospital for two years until her illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Garth Brooks; and her parents, Benjamin Cooper and Dorothy Bouie Cooper.
Survivors include three daughters, Fatima Cooper-Smith, Nephteria Cooper-Davis and Shante Cooper, all of Queens Village, N.Y.; two sisters, Janet M. Gadsden of Bainbridge and Jerry Cooper-Powell of Queens; two brothers, Elson Bouie and Bobby Cooper, both of the Bronx; four grandsons and a host of other relatives and friends.
Foster Phillips Funeral Home Inc. of Jamaica, N.Y., was in charge of arrangements. Bruton Mortuary handled local arrangements.
