Funeral services for Elizabeth “Lib” Bridges, 90, of Donalsonville, Ga., were held on Friday, April 22, at Friendship United Methodist Church in Donalsonville, Ga., with the Revs. Kirk Loyless and Charles Dennis officiating.

Interment followed in the Oak City Cemetery in Bainbridge with Zack Bridges, Kellen Bridges, Jeb Bridges, Josh McElyea, Greg Kitchens and E.C. Bridges acting as pallbearers.

Mrs. Bridges was born in Seminole County, Ga., on Feb. 12, 1921, to the late Roland Lamar and Ruth Murphy Voorhies Horn. She died Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at the Donalsonville Hospital.

She was a teacher in the Seminole County Schools for many years, a bookkeeper and a homemaker, an active member of Friendship United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, member of Addie Brigham Sunday School Class, had previously taught the Addie Brigham Sunday School class a number of years, started the church’s nursing home ministry, and was a member of the Woman’s Club for many years. She received the Life Time Achievement Award in 1997 from the Chamber of Commerce and Mother of the Year in the State of Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roland Lamar and Ruth Murphy Voorhies Horn; her husband, Charles Bridges, and a sister, Agnes Horn Davis.

She is survived by four sons, Dr. Charles Roland Bridges and his wife, Susie, of Newville, Ala., Dr. Cleve Reynolds Bridges and his wife, Pam, of Donalsonville, Dr. Leslie Keith Bridges and his wife, Pam, of Bozeman, Mont., and Dr. Joe Glawson and his wife, Dale, of Hoover, Ala.; one daughter, Ruth Bridges Breckenridge and her husband, Dr. H.E., Breckenridge III of Donalsonville; grandchildren Lara Bridges Housser and her husband, Andrew, Jeb Bridges, Bethany McElyea and her husband, Josh; Emily Kitchens and her husband, Greg; Shana Bridges, Kellen Bridges, Zack Bridges and Maggie Bridges; great-grandchildren, Harry Housser, Sophie Housser, Drew Housser, Lane McElyea and Kate McElyea.
