The Bearcats took a1-0 lead when forward Miguel Barron scored in the 26th minute. The Eagles answered with a goal in the 28th minute and the first half ended in a 1-1 tie.

The Bearcats scored the go ahead and ultimate winning goal in the 41st minute.

They gained control of the ball around midfield, came up the center of the field, through the Bearcats defense, and scored to give them a 2-1 lead.

The advantage moved to 3-1 in the 61st minute when an Eagles forward put the ball into the back of the net after tracking down a through ball that was sent towards the Bearcats goal.

The Eagles added goals in the 63rd, 69th and 72nd minute to increase their advantage to 6-1.

Bearcats senior midfielder Hal Clement scored a goal in the 76th minute to conclude the day’s scoring.

After the game, Coach Jamie Ard talked about how proud he was of his team for achieving so many outstanding goals during the season.

“We did have a great season, and these guys have nothing to hang their heads about,” he said, referring to his team. “They have left a legacy behind for future teams to strive to match and exceed. I am very proud of how they worked and performed this year. I just wish it had not ended the way it did.”

“I would like to also thank all those who supported us all season. It was well appreciated by the players and the coaches.

“As far as our playoff game with Northside Warner Robins is concerned, it was apparent we just were not in game shape. I attribute that in large part to not playing for two weeks and having a few missing over the holidays. We just couldn’t knock the rust off well enough to be successful Tuesday.

“I thought we played well at times, but when the third goal came for them, it really broke our spirit. As I said after our previous loss this season, the score was not indicative of how well we played at times during the game.

“Hal Clement, Brian Ordonez and Alex Benjarano played their hearts out Tuesday. I hated to see things end the way they did for them and our other seniors, Keenan Adams, Zack Denham, Suraj Patel, Tony Nguyen and Avery Chestnut who have been around the program for five years.

“For other seniors like Miguel Barron, Delonte Martistee, Javius Mitchell, Adam Taylor and Jeremy Williams, it was equally disappointing.”
