Good things are happening

Local attorney Paul Fryer has begun making improvements to his house at 306 S. Broad St. It really is looking quite attractive and is a pleasant upgrade in the Historic District.

Also in the Historic District is the Ehrlich Building, (231 E. Broughton St.) which was recently purchased by Herschel and Leslie Hitchcock. Herschel is remodeling the first floor to use as his business office. Later they plan to remodel the second floor and live “downtown.”

It is wonderful that people are beginning to realize the benefits of living in the heart of Bainbridge and using existing buildings by restoring them, rather than tearing them down and starting over. This saves energy (already built versus tearing down and building anew), keeps tons out of the landfill, and reduces crime in the area of the renovation when people move into the area.
