The graveside funeral service for Greg Byers, 60, of Brinson, Ga., will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 4, at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with Mr. Avery Hutto officiating.

Mr. Byers was born June 12, 1950, in McKeesport, Penn. He died Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Ala. He served in the U.S. Army and had worked with Georgia-Pacific in Cedar Springs, Ga., since 1978, and was a union representative.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald R. Byers, and his mother, Elizabeth Penn.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Vickie Byers of Brinson; his daughters, Karen Phillips and her husband, Jay, of Fort Bragg, N.C., and Amanda Ward and her husband, Eric, of Attapulgus, Ga.; his brother, Bob Kingston and his wife, Eileen, of Clarksville, Tenn.; his sister, Paula Marie Shumaker and her husband, Jim, of Greensburg, Penn.; and his grandchildren, JJ Phillips, Sarah Beth Phillips and Brayden Ward.
