A memorial service for Elsie Hightower, 83, of Bainbridge, will be celebrated at St. John’s Episcopal Church on Thursday, March 31, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. June Johnson officiating.

Mrs. Hightower was born Sept. 15, 1927, in Farmville, N.C., the daughter of John Tyson Sr. and Callie Mandeville Tyson. She died March 15, 2011.

She lived her early life in North Carolina and received her secretarial training, working in that capacity in Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia. She retired in Bainbridge and was a devoted communicant at St. John’s Episcopal Church.

She is survived by several cousins.
