Funeral services for Sammie L. Washington, 69, of Bainbridge, were held Saturday, March 19, at Greater Macedonia M.B. Church with Pastor Eric D. Collins officiating.

Interment followed at New Messiah M.B. Church Cemetery with Willie Cox, Chester Floyd, Johnny Jones, Emory Middleton Jr., Marchester Tucker and Gregg Washington acting as pallbearers.

Mr. Washington was born Nov. 19, 1941, the son of the late Emory Washington Sr. and Rachel S. Parrish. He was a native of Grady County. He attended school in Decatur County.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Emory Washington Jr., Eugene Washington and Walter Washington.

Survivors include his wife, Callie Shepard Washington; four brothers, Willie B. Washington (Mamie), Bobby Washington (Sylvia), James Parrish, all of Bainbridge, and Robert Washington (Shirley) of Augusta, Ga.; six sisters, Pearl Borden, Minnie Haire, Peggy Perkins, Retha Middleton (Emory Jr.), all of Bainbridge, Chrysalene Whitfield of Midway, Fla., and Lena Jones (Eric) of Pelham, Ga.; nine stepchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Guyton Brothers Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
