City vying for ‘Fishing Town USA’

The Convention and Visitors Bureau has been hard at work during the past few months working on many new projects.
The first is a photo contest through Flickr. The winner of the contest will be featured on the front of the new Bainbridge brochure that will be printed later this year. We have had so many great photos submitted to the contest. You can view them and find our more information about the contest by visiting www.flickr.com/groups/bainbridgecity. The contest ends on March 15, so keep ’em coming!
Bainbridge is also set to receive its Camera Ready designation later this month. We are one of only three counties in Southwest Georgia to receive this designation. The designation, given by the Georgia Film, Music and Digital Entertainment Office, allows us to promote Bainbridge’s assets directly to production companies interested in shooting in Georgia. While this does not guarantee production companies will choose Bainbridge, working with the state allows us to better reach both film and television producers.
Finally, Bainbridge has been nominated to become Ultimate Fishing Town USA. We are competing with other communities throughout the nation for this honor and need your help to win!
The winning town will receive $25,000 to use toward fishing-related causes and a 30-minute television show about their on World Fishing Network, along with other prizes. From now until April 8, you can visit www.wfnfishingtown.com to upload photos and videos and to submit stories about fishing in Bainbridge. These supporting entries are very important for us to have because the more supporting entries we have, the better our chances of being selected in the final round.
After all of the supporting materials have been submitted, public voting will begin on April 12. There will be two rounds of voting. First, we will compete regionally against North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi.
The top two vote-getters from our region in the first round will move on to the final round, which begins on May 10. If we are not one of the top two vote-getters, we still have a chance to make it to the final round.
WFN will choose six wild card communities based on originality, persuasiveness, energy and the nature of the community organization. We need your help to support Bainbridge in becoming Ultimate Fishing Town USA!
Finally, we are proud to announce that in addition to our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/BainbridgeGA) and our blog (www.bainbridgecity.blogspot.com), you can now connect with the City of Bainbridge through other social media. The city has just launched a YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/user/BainbridgeCity and a Flickr group, www.flickr.com/groups/bainbridgecity. Connect with us through all of our social media sites to stay informed about all that’s going on within your city.
