Nellie Ruth Hornsby

Funeral services for Nellie Ruth Howard Hornsby, 91, of Donalsonville, Ga., were held on Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Corinth Free Will Baptist Church with the Revs. Richard Trawick and Talmadge Worsley officiating.

Burial followed in the church cemetery with Dee Wurst, Patrick Wurst, Johnathan Wurst, Don Gurr, Neal Gurr, Kelly Hornsby, Wade Hornsby, Jerry Studdard, Michael Studdard and Zack Johnston acting as pallbearers.

Mrs. Hornsby was born Feb. 27, 1919, in Donalsonville, Ga., and died Jan. 23, 2011, at Seminole Manor Nursing Home.

She was a member of Corinth Free Will Baptist Church and a homemaker. Her favorite pastime was fishing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Lovering Howard and Sarah Emma Godwin Howard; her husband, Eldridge E. Hornsby Jr.; a daughter, Pat Wurst; two brothers, Lewis Howard and Edward Howard; and two sisters, Eunice Willams and Johnnie Pugh.

She is survived by one son, Butch Hornsby of Donalsonville; two daughters, June Gurr of Albany, Ga., and Amy Studdard of Thomasville, Ga., 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
