Services for Kate D. Nichols, 99, of Bainbridge, Ga., were held Tuesday, Jan. 25, at First United Methodist Church of Bainbridge.

Interment was in Oak City Cemetery.

Kate Oma Day was born May 11, 1911, in Samson, Ala., and died Jan. 22, 2011.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul L. Nichols and by her parents, George Robert (Bob) and Mandy Donnia Farris Day.

Survivors include her children: Ellen Ross Jennings of Leesburg, Fla., Jimmie Ruth Gurley of Columbus, Ga., George Robert “Bob” Alford of St. Simons Island, Ga., Tommy Farris Alford of Savannah, Freddy Edward Alford of Recovery, Ga., Larry Cullen Nichols of Bainbridge and Betty N. Marshall of Valdosta, Ga.; 14 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

The family would like to recognize the wonderful care-giving of Dorothy Love and Michelle Gray and thank them for the attention given to their mother.

Cox-Ware Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
