An Attapulgus man and woman are in jail after Sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at their home early Friday morning and found illegal drugs inside, according to investigators.

At about 1:30 a.m. Friday morning, Sheriff’s investigators executed a so-called “no knock” search warrant at 583 Thomas Avenue in Attapulgus. The Sheriff’s Office entered the house based on multiple complaints about possible illegal drugs being sold out of the residence, as well as tips investigators received, said Investigator Brian Donalson.

Inside the house, investigators found quantities of cocaine and marijuana, both of which were packaged to be sold, Donalson said. Deputies also seized a large sum of cash, a gun and a set of digital scales, like those commonly used to weigh drugs, Donalson said.

Deputies arrested Virginia Moye, 51, of 583 Thomas Ave., Attapulgus and Clarence Lamar Williams, 38, of 443 Church St., Bainbridge. Both are charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a drug-related object. In addition, Williams is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Gunfire damage reported

Two separate incidents of gunfire damaging vehicles were reported to the Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday.

A Climax man reported a tractor which was parked in a cotton field off Sikes Mill Road had been shot on its hood.

Another Climax man reported he was driving on Hines Perkins Road near the county line when an unknown person shot at his pickup truck, breaking the back window.
