Scripture: Isaiah 45:18-24

Aim: To show men that Jehovah God, the Great Creator, desires that men repent and be saved.

Golden Text: “I the Lord (has told from the beginning)—there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else” (Isaiah 45:21b-22).

There is much confusion in the world of men concerning the true God and their relationship and responsibility to Him.

In this lesson, Jehovah God calls upon all men to repent and believe on Him. It is He who created all things, including man. He sustains all things, including man. He is the only, the true God Who calls men to repent their sins and rebellion, believe the truth concerning Him, and receive His as their personal God and Savior. Beside Him there is no Savior (Isaiah 43:10-11). All other ideas, philosophies, religions, gods or whatever else, are false.

It is Jehovah God (Jesus Christ is God in the flesh) Who alone is the creator, sustainer and savior of man. He created man in His image (Genesis 1:26-27).

Man obeyed God for a short period of time (Adam and Eve), but then sinned against God and began to listen to, and obey, Satan, God’s arch-enemy. Since that time Jehovah God has worked in behalf of men in order to bring them back to trust in Him. Man, being a sinner and self-centered, refuses to return to God. He “makes up all sorts of “gods,” trying to take the place of Jehovah.

Yet, Jehovah God remains the Creator, Sustainer, Keeper and Blesser of His creation. He sent Jesus Christ to die for the sins of men in order to rescue man from personal destruction in an eternal Hell, which was made for the devil and his angels.

Men still reject the Savior and run on down to the “pit of destruction—Hell.” It is no fairy tale. Nor is it the ramblings of some senile old man. It is the sobering, eternal truth of Almighty God, the Creator and Sustainer of mankind.

This lesson points man back to God and calls upon him to repent and believe to the saving of his soul.

I. We are called up to remember the absolute truth, that Jehovah God is the absolute and only Eternal God, ever or anywhere (Isaiah 45:18). This verse tells us that God created and established the universe. He created (made from nothing, let’s see man make something from nothing!) the earth with the purpose that man would inhabit it. The whole center of the universe is the earth and the human beings He created by His power. Many poop, poop the idea of a personal God, who made and is interested in man. They have never come up with any even half way acceptable idea to take the place of God’s creating all things, including man!

II. Jehovah God has spoken especially through Israel, through whom He brought the Savior of sinners into the world (Isaiah 45:19). Here we are told that Jehovah God speaks the truth. He especially chose to use Israel through whom to bless the world of lost men with a sufficient Savior from their sin and rebellion against God. God has taken the initiative in order that man may hear His plan, repent and receive His Savior, Jesus Christ.

III. Jehovah God is the only Savior for all men regardless of their disposition and position in this world (Isaiah 45:20-21). He acknowledges that men may seek something else, but they will get no response. However, if man will seek Him, Jehovah God will respond to that person. The false gods are followed out of ignorance (vs. 20). To follow Jehovah God is to follow the true Savior of sinful men (vs. 21). He alone is the Savior of mankind!

IV. Jehovah God calls all men to believe on Him (Isaiah 45:22-24). Here are two things. First, God calls all men to come to Him and be saved, because there is no other Savior but Him (vs. 22). Second, Jehovah God has promised that “every knee shall bow, and every tongue swear” that He is the eternal God. The Creator and Savior of man. Have you received Him? There is no other!
