Willard Bowers

The funeral service for Willard Bowers, 92, of Tallahassee, Fla., was held on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at Cedar Springs Assembly of God Church near Westville, Fla., with Pastors Roger Hagan, Ed Barnes and Charles Pettis officiating.
Interment followed at Camp Ground Cemetery near Westville with Rodney Bowers, Reath Bowers, Ronnie Bowers, Roderick Bowers, Harry Miller and Park Goodson serving as active pallbearers.
Mr. Bowers was born Jan. 14, 1918, in Westville, Fla., where he grew up and lived until moving to Pensacola, Fla., in the late 1950s to work for Carroll Construction Company, from which he retired in 1976. He died Jan. 2, 2011, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
His retirement years were spent working with his church and hanging out with his retired friends, until his health brought him to Tallahassee to live with his family.
Mr. Bowers was preceded in death by his parents, Henry T. Bowers and Mary Ann Huggins Bowers; his older brother, Hubert Bowers, and his brother-in-law, Clyde Skinner.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Sally Harrell Bowers of Bainbridge; his sister, Lonie Skinner of Westville; and his nephews, Clyde Skinner and his wife, Diane, of Lancaster, S.C., Thomas Skinner and his wife, Jennifer, of Tallahassee, and Jerry Skinner and his wife, Sharon, of Westville.
Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
