Charles David Duke

The funeral service for Charles D. Duke, 84, of Bainbridge, were held on Wednesday, Dec. 22, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Perry Lamey officiating.

Interment followed at Corinth Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with his grandchildren serving as active pallbearers.

Mr. Duke was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Newton, Ga., the son of Ranson Duke and Lillie Cowart Duke. He died Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Ala. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II, was a contractor and was of the Pentecostal Faith.

Mr. Duke was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ollie Mae Duke; his brothers, Rayford Gordon and Delmer Duke; his sisters, Ethel Beyer and Ruth Fisher; and his grandson, Dallas Anthony Duke.

Survivors include his three sons, David Duke and his wife, Linda, of Eldorendo, Ga., Randy Duke and his wife, Terry, of Thomasville, Ga., and Phillip Duke and his wife, Jena, of Tallahassee, Fla.; two daughters, Lorrie Fite and her husband, David, of Andalusia, Ala., and Vesta Bush of Orlando, Fla.; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
