Funeral services for Lillie Mae Russell Anderson, 66, of New York, N.Y., were held Wednesday, Dec. 1, at Second Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Attapulgus, Ga., with the Rev. Henry Stephenson officiating.
Interment was at Sherman Williams Cemetery in Attapulgus with Kelvin Bouie Sr., Jimmy Johnson Jr., Tarent Bouie, Damian Bouie, Michael Neal, Jaamar Kirkland and Kelvin Bouie Jr. acting as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Oliver Anderson, George Freeman, Eugene Anderson, Jimmy Johnson Sr., Richard Knight, Abe Anderson Jr., Lindsey Anderson and Walter Anderson.
Mrs. Anderson was born Dec. 7, 1943, in Attapulgus. She died Nov. 21, 2010, at Winthrop University Hospital in New York.
She was a life-long member of Second Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church and a supervisor at Unaflex for many years until her retirement. She later opened her own day care center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Katherine Russell.
Survivors include her husband, Rufus “Bud” Anderson; two daughters, Tamiko and Lenia Anderson; two sisters, Annie Mae Bouie of Attapulgus and Birdie Mae Neal of Atlanta; one step-sister, Marilyn Russell of Williston, Fla.; a brother, Willie C. Blackmon; a step-brother, Jimmy Dawson of Orlando, Fla.; a step-mother, Cloretta Anderson of Attapulgus; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Bruton Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.
