Funeral services for Freddie Wilson Sr., 71, of Attapulgus, Ga., will be held Dec. 4, 2010, at 11 a.m. at New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ in Attapulgus with David Poulian officiating.
Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery in Cairo with the sons acting as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Horace Hunter, Michael and Fredrick Shilo, and Charlie Wilson.
Mr. Wilson was born Feb. 11, 1939, in Quitman, Ga., and died Nov. 28, 2010, at his residence.
He received his education through the Grady County public school system. He was a minister with New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ and served in various capacities of the church until he was called to preach in 1998. He became pastor of St. Luke Freewill Baptist Church in Bainbridge, serving there until he passed away.
He was owner and general contractor of Wilson Builders, which was established in 1983.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia S. Wilson; sons, Freddie Wilson Jr., and Jermichael Wilson, both of Attapulgus, Frederick Leon Wilson, Leonard Wilson and Spencer B-Luv Wilson, all of Thomasville; daughters, Angela Jest of Thomasville, Wanshanda Shilo of Attapulgus and Sharonda Rogers, Tallahassee, Fla.; two brothers, Freddie Wilson and Charlie Wilson; four sisters, Eva Williams, Adrian Brown, Nettie Wilson and Ada Hawthorne, all of Live Oak, Fla.; 25 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
